Lingoboard

Effective 30 September 2026

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Lingoboard collects, why it is needed, where it is processed and the choices available to you.

1. Who operates Lingoboard

Lingoboard is operated by Shashi Prabha, an individual based in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. For privacy questions, contact translationkeyboard@gmail.com.

2. Information we process

Translation content

When you explicitly tap Translate, Translate copied message, or Translate with Lingoboard, we process the selected text or active unsent draft, source and target languages, and selected tone. Lingoboard does not automatically transmit everything you type and does not read entire conversations in the background.

Account information

Lingoboard initially creates an anonymous Firebase account. If you create a permanent account, Google Firebase Authentication processes your email address, password credentials, verification status and account identifier. Lingoboard does not receive or store your plaintext password.

Usage and subscription information

We keep translation usage counts, allowance tier, Premium status, and a one-way hash representing the active app installation. If you purchase Premium, Google Play processes the payment. Our backend receives the product identifier, purchase token, order and subscription status needed to verify and restore access. We store a hash of the purchase token rather than the raw token and do not receive your payment-card details or your Google Play email address.

Technical and security information

Translation requests include a random request identifier, draft revision, language codes, tone and text length. Network and cloud infrastructure may process IP address, timestamps, request outcome and security signals. Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity process device and app-integrity information to distinguish legitimate installations and reduce abuse. We do not use IMEI, IMSI or SIM serial numbers.

3. How translation works

After your explicit request and cloud-translation consent, the Lingoboard app sends the translation content over HTTPS to our Google Cloud backend. The backend sends the text, language choices and tone to OpenAI to produce the translation. The OpenAI request uses the API setting store: false. Lingoboard does not persist source text or translated text in its database or application logs. External providers may temporarily process information under their security, abuse-prevention and legal obligations.

Lingoboard never sends a message for you. The translation is returned to the active field for you to review before using the host app’s send control.

4. Clipboard, suggestions and speech

  • Clipboard: while the keyboard is active, Lingoboard may show a short-lived prompt for recently copied text. Clipboard text is sent only after you tap the translation action.
  • Suggestions: dictionaries and learned next-word patterns are stored in app-private storage on your device. Lingoboard limits these patterns, does not intentionally save complete sentences, and does not learn from fields Android marks as protected. You can erase them with Clear learned suggestions.
  • Speech: Lingoboard requests Android’s on-device speech recognizer. Audio is not sent to the Lingoboard translation backend. The recognition service available on your device may be provided by Google or your device manufacturer and is governed by that provider’s terms. Recognized text is sent for translation only if you separately tap Translate.

5. Why we use this information

  • Provide translations, language selection, tone and Undo.
  • Create, verify, secure and recover accounts.
  • Apply free-usage limits and restore Premium access.
  • Prevent fraud, duplicate purchase use and automated abuse.
  • Diagnose reliability and security failures without logging message content.
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting and platform obligations.

6. Service providers and sharing

We share information only as needed to operate Lingoboard, with:

  • Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, account records, usage enforcement, app integrity, hosting and operational security.
  • OpenAI for user-requested translation processing.
  • Google Play for app distribution, billing, purchase verification and Play Integrity.
  • Authorities or professional advisers when disclosure is required by applicable law, necessary to protect rights and security, or part of a properly notified business transfer.

We do not sell personal information and do not use translation content for advertising.

7. Storage and retention

  • Translation text and results are processed in memory and are not intentionally stored by Lingoboard.
  • Account, usage, device-binding and entitlement records remain while your account is active. After we verify a deletion request, we aim to remove or anonymize them within 30 days, except where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, disputes, tax, accounting or legal compliance.
  • Purchase verification records may include your Firebase UID, hashed purchase token, product and order identifiers, subscription status, renewal state, expiry and verification time. Required transaction records may be retained for legal, accounting, dispute and fraud-prevention purposes after other account data is deleted.
  • Operational security logs exclude translation text, translation results, user IDs, authorization headers, passwords and purchase tokens. They are retained only for the configured cloud logging period and then deleted automatically.
  • Device preferences and learned suggestions remain on your device until you clear them, clear app data or uninstall Lingoboard.

8. Security

Production traffic uses HTTPS. The OpenAI key remains on the backend. Firebase authentication and App Check protect account and translation routes. Sensitive fields marked by Android, including password fields, disable translation and speech features. No method of storage or transmission is completely risk-free, but we use controls designed for the nature of the information processed.

9. Your choices and rights

You can withdraw cloud-translation consent in Help and privacy, clear learned suggestions, choose not to create a permanent account, and request access, correction or deletion of your account information. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

To delete your account and associated data, follow the instructions on the account deletion page. For other privacy requests, email translationkeyboard@gmail.com. We may need to verify that you control the account before acting on a request.

10. International processing

Lingoboard is operated from India and uses service providers that may process information in other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. We use provider contractual and security measures intended to protect information during such processing.

11. Children

Lingoboard is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to collect children’s personal information knowingly. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Lingoboard’s features, providers or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top will identify the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.
